Life’s a Beach, Day 1

Who: Rich and Kathy
Where:
Huntington Beach Residence Inn
When:
October 2014
Why:
Beach/Halloween Disney Fix

The Plan

This trip was planned so many times, I think we ended up coming up with Plan A, B, C, and D. But it went from a solo Disneyland trip to a beach trip to meeting Rich’s aunt in Long Beach for lunch on the Queen Mary with a tour of the Bob Hope exhibit. And, hopefully, we’d get to pop in at Disneyland Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Friday

Plan: Depart Las Vegas for Huntington Beach after work

Actual: Rich left work a couple of hours early so we were able to leave our home at around 3:00 p.m. Rich had filled the jeep with gas and we stopped off at Fresh n Easy for hairspray for me – I only use it for my bangs and hairspray is a must – lol!

We would have a kitchen and sitting area in our little villa so we packed a 4-pack of single bottles of wine, cheese and crackers, and some cookies for snacking purposes. We made our usual Del Taco and gas stop in Barstow and arrived in Huntington Beach at around 7 p.m.

It was dark by the time we arrived and it felt a bit humid at the beach compared to the desert. But the air smelled glorious. I grew up 3 miles from here and would recognize where I was by the fragrance of the air even if I was blindfolded.

We unpacked and sipped some wine and ate some cheese and crackers and then went to bed. Today had been a long day traveling after work.

The next morning we would meet Rich’s aunt on the Queen Mary.
