Can WDW Save the Birthday – Day 3

Sunday, July 15, Breakfast and More Pool Time

Our plans for this morning were to spend more time in the pool. Rich was going to make our usual coffee in the room but housekeeping hadn’t replaced the coffee packet.

On that note, we were surprised that the room hadn’t been made up yesterday after we returned from the MK. Later, housekeeping knocked and asked when we’d like our room made up. We gave them a time when we’d be eating dinner at Boma. They made up the room okay, but didn’t replace the toilet paper on the roll or the coffee. Minor details, really, but we did notice.

So, without coffee in the room, we put on our swimsuits under our shorts and headed down to Roaring Fork, grabbed a couple of coffees and some pastries and sat outside at a table with an umbrella overlooking the pool. We had our eye on this area yesterday. It’s one of our favorite morning spots. It was Heavenly! So relaxing!

Then we jumped in the pool. It was quiet and a bit cooler this morning but we soon got used to the water and enjoyed splashing around again. The Trout Pass Bar was still closed, so no morning cocktail.

We soaked a bit in the jacuzzi, too, and talked about how fun it all was and how we’d like to do this a whole lot more. Then we headed back to the room, packed up our bags, retrieved our car, and drove home.

It was sad to leave, especially as we turned onto 429 and entered the real world again. But I’d had a wonderful birthday weekend, even if the original plan was to go to Disneyland. This was the first time we’d been back to WL after the GC and it really connected us to home. Just like the GC connected us to WL when we were there. I love that – it’s like being in both places at once.

So did WDW save the birthday? Oh yeah! At times, I forgot we were in Florida. WL was the perfect choice for the birthday originally meant to be celebrated at DL.

As for special “birthday” celebrations, Rich surprised me with flowers and cake and champagne and cards and all that good stuff the night before our WL trip and again once we got home. All around, it was a fabulous birthday! I just hope I can make his birthday just as special next month! We have ressies at the Yacht Club, but still undecided about where to have the birthday dinner. I’ll look forward to writing that trip report.
