Can WDW Save the Birthday – Day 2, Part 2

Saturday, July 14, The Pool

The Wilderness Lodge pool is one of our favorites. The last few times we’ve strolled by, we wished we were staying on site so we could jump in the pool. Now we could!

But first we took a nap, of course. What we call the “Disney nap.” We were afraid we were chancing an afternoon t-storm but the storms stayed away. So when we got up, we changed into our swimsuits and went down to the pool. Ah…. it was Heavenly! The water was so warm.

A DJ was playing music and they had some dunking game going on for the kids. We splashed around by the current and tried to keep to our corner so it wouldn’t send us swimming downstream.

We eventually made our way to the Trout Pass Bar – one of our favorites. This is where I met the woman who ordered the “Pink Monorail” that made its way into my novel Real Women Wear Red. And the bartender was this pleasant guy from the UK – he made it even more fun! Unfortunately, this bartender was an oddball. She kept telling us about Cookie Monster songs and how she couldn’t get them out of her head. Sheesh!

We tried to tune her out and enjoy our cocktails – I had a Pina Colava and Rich had a Mai Tai. Delish!

When the DJ played a few Hawaiian songs, we were tempted to skip our plans to eat at Boma and hang out at the Poly, but decided against it. We stayed in the pool for a couple of hours, and then went back to our room to change and get ready for our Boma 7:20 ADR.

Originally, we’d planned to stop in at Victoria Falls at AKL to get a pre-dinner drink, but we’d spent so much time at the pool enjoying our cocktails that we decided to skip it. We could always get an after dinner drink at the Territory Lounge back at our resort.
