Sometimes we can’t believe we moved all the way from California to Florida only to move back. But home is home and we can’t always choose home – it just is.
Anyway, after leaving Florida in the summer of 2007, we’re getting ready to fly back to Orlando for our first trip to Walt Disney World since we moved away. Needless to say, we’re very excited, although our emotions are going up and down like a roller coaster – remembering why we left and remembering why it was so very difficult to leave. We can’t help but wonder how this trip will impact our future plans. We love California and Florida equally and it’s sometimes difficult to know where to live.
What’s extra special about this trip is that we’ll be meeting California friends now living in Colorado to celebrate their son’s birthday at WDW. And after eyeing the DVC villas ever since they were first built, we’re finally going to stay in one – a one-bedroom villa at the Boardwalk – our very favorite place to be on WDW property. We can’t wait to pop in at the Screen Door General Store, grab some snacks, a bottle of wine, and just relax in our villa, making like we live there.
That’s what we dreamed of when we used to park at the Boardwalk’s after 5 p.m. free parking, walk through the property and on to World Showcase through International Gateway for an evening stroll. And while we may have gone too often before, we do miss have the option to just pop in like that. At the same time, we envied guests who were actually staying onsite because that is a lot of the fun for us.
And while it’s true we’re not really group people, we do like to meet up with friends every now and then and we’re looking forward to another trip for the Food & Wine Festival to see other friends we haven’t seen in awhile.
